Service OverviewWhat stump grinding involves and when it is worth doing
What stump grinding involves, how deep the grinder goes, and how the finish is matched to what you are doing with the site next.
Stump grinding is the final step in a proper tree removal — or a standalone job to deal with stumps that have been sitting in the yard for years. A rotating carbide-tipped cutting wheel chews the stump and surface roots into mulch, working below ground level so the area can be turfed, paved, planted, or built over.
The scope depends on stump diameter, wood hardness (a 200mm pine stump takes minutes; a 600mm ironbark can take an hour), root-flare spread, machine access through the gate, and what you plan to do with the area next. We set the grinding depth to match — 100mm below grade for turf, 200–300mm for paving or slab prep.
